The MPN Trap: How “Cost Control” Is Driving Away Your Quality Doctors
Providing critical analysis of Medical Provider Networks (MPNs) in California, arguing that despite their nominal goal of cost control, they ultimately harm employers. The presentation will focus on how MPNs primarily function as reimbursement discount mechanisms, driving doctors out of the workers’ compensation system and creating significant difficulties for employers in securing timely, high-quality care for their injured workers, leading to increased costs and administrative chaos not encountered in other states.
