Tyrone Spears began his workers’ compensation career over 20 years ago. Currently, he is the Division Chief of Workers' Compensation for the City of Los Angeles. He oversees all Workers' Compensation programs for the City of Los Angeles. Tyrone holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, Executive MBA in Management, and a Doctorate in Theology.
In addition to his role within the City of Los Angeles, Tyrone actively contributes to the workers' compensation and risk management community by serving on various boards and advisory committees. Notably, his commitment to public service and expertise in the field led to his appointment by Governor Newsome as a Commissioner to the Fraud Assessment Commission.
Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Spears is deeply involved in philanthropic efforts as the President and CEO of Hazel's Hands, a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering resources, services, and leadership to address the evolving needs of at-risk youth and their families in local communities. His vision for Hazel's Hands is rooted in supporting, empowering, and driving positive change to foster a brighter future for those in need.
